Academic Interests
Hester is a soprano and violinist based in the UK. She began her musical career as a classical violinist and played with the Nottingham Youth Orchestra from the age of 10. Upon moving to university she became a choral scholar with Hull Minster Choir, and spent three years with the university orchestra, and the university Chapel Choir. She now plays with the university Chamber Orchestra, the Folk and Trad Society, and the Gilbert and Sullivan Society orchestra. Alongside this, Hester is a choral scholar with St Andrew’s Renaissance Singers, and St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, as well as a soprano with St Leonard’s Chapel Choir.
Hester’s academic interests include the study of early sacred music, of early musical notation, and of the theological ideas that underpinned the composition of early sacred and secular music.
Other Interests
Outside of music, Hester is a member of the university swimming team, the hillwalking society, and the charity group ‘Challengers St Andrews’. She is also volunteers as a social media manager for RSCM Scotland.
