How to apply (Ph.D.)
The ITIA Ph.D. is a very competitive programme with limited spaces.
We welcome applications from highly qualified candidates with undergraduate and Masters-level experience (minimum GPA 3.6, UK average 66, or Scotland average 16 at both UG and Masters level) in theology or an arts subject, and sufficient academic experience in the other area (theology for arts students, or an arts subject for theologians).
Prospective applicants are strongly advised to contact a potential supervisor before making an application.
All applications are submitted online. See the university’s postgraduate admissions pages for details.
Complete applications received by 14 December receive first consideration as a gathered field both for acceptance and for School scholarships; applications received after that date are considered on a rolling basis if and as places are available. Eligible applications seeking funding through the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities (SGSAH) must also be received by that date.
Please note: Applications are only considered complete when all necessary documentation, including references, has been received. After you submit your applications, referees have forty days to submit their references, and your application will not be processed until these have been submitted. If you need your referees to act more quickly than within the standard time frame, it is your responsibility to ask them to do so.
