Gerard McNair-Lewis is interested in the theological claim that the Divine may be found in every aspect of a human being’s life, and how quotidian moments are opportunities for growth in holiness. The novel and poem are his main artistic interests because of their ability to help individuals navigate through the messiness of life. His favourite authors are JD Salinger, Evelyn Waugh, Flannery O’Connor, and Fr. Gerard Manly Hopkins S.J. His theological interests include the works of Sts. Thomas Aquinas and John Henry Newman, as well as Fr. Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P. and Fr. Herbert McCabe, O.P.
Outside of reading and his studies, Gerard enjoys playing rugby and soccer, listening to The Stillwater Hobos and The Hillbilly Thomists, and supporting DC United, Washington, D.C.’s professional soccer team.
