Transept: Where Theory Meets Craft

Transept logoAn informal, open space to enjoy, discuss and encourage art. All welcome, no experience required!

Transept is a postgraduate student-led group of multidisciplinary practicing artists and art enthusiasts within ITIA, the university and the wider local community. We share in-process and completed artistic work in all genres.

At the start of each academic year, we determine a meeting time and approach for the year, which often includes exhibitions and performances in response to a theme that we’ve explored. We have collaborated with local churches and galleries, using our art to complement and enrich sacred and secular spaces. We have shared our work at academic theological conferences, encouraging reciprocation between academic studies and artistic exploration. Through these projects rooted in ITIA and St Andrews, an international Transept community is flourishing.

For the 2023-24 academic year, Transept meets on Fridays from 10-11am. Please email [email protected] for the location and other details. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to stay updated on activities and events.
