Thesis topic
Under the supervision of Natasha O’Hear, Thomas is exploring questions of how photography might be positively created, used and experienced in religious contexts. Significantly, his thesis will explore potential for positive theological understandings of photography in the face of three areas of significant challenge including issues of violence and suffering, sentimentality and objectification, and the photograph’s capacity for truth. These questions will be explored also through engagement with major photographers and their work.
